Barcelona!

Let me start by saying I will forever be impartial to Barcelona because it was my first European travel location and I have been in love ever since. The tapas, cheap wine, siestas in the middle of the day, architecture, and paella are my major highlights! I have details below from where to stay to where to eat/drink.

Where to stay?

We stayed in the Gothic Qaurter- El Born to be precise. While this is a hike to walk to La Rambla (about 20 minute walk) and La Sagrada Familia (about 30 minute walk)- it is much less touristy and has the most amazing architecture and small tapas bars. We stayed at El Born Guest house which was super budget friendly and the staff was amazing. I enjoy staying at smaller local places because I find they are much more likely to give suggestions of things to do that the locals enjoy. There is no elevator and I believe the rooms were on the fourth floor so do prepare but it was a nice quiet stay with a balcony as an added bonus!

Where to eat?

Eating is an essential part to any trip I take which may be why I loved Barcelona so much! Our favorite activity was stopping into as many tapas bars as we could find, having a glass of wine, and trying too many foods. At one point we even had a waitress tell us that we had ordered far too much food for two people and that our additional order was unnecessary (LOL). Also stop into any spot where you see jamon hanging from the ceiling- get a glass of wine and a sandwich. Here are a few of my favorites:

Golfo de Bizkaia Pi- Les Galeries Malda

This one is forsure biased- it was our first tapas spot that we ventured into. It is a very tiny hole in the wall but they had an excellent selection on tapas and vino Tinto to keep you happy for hours.

Tosca Tapas y Vino

This place is wonderful! A friend who is a chef recommended and we were not disappointed. This was a great dinner spot as they offered some larger portions. It was busier than other places we visited but well worth the wait.

Can Sole

This was a recommendation from our hotel when we asked about where to get paella. They open every evening between 8:00-8:30 pm and we were told to get there early because it is a local restaurant and they get very busy. We arrives around 7:45 pm and there were a few other people already waiting outside. They showed us how to eat pan con tomate correctly- it was a lot of fun and a delicious meal!

Where to drink?

We found several great bars near our hotel- Bar Sauvage, Bar El Born, & Paradiso all within close walking distance that were a fun end to the evening. You can honestly walk down any street in the Gothic Quarter and find great spots to have a night cap!

Enjoy! **chefs kiss Barcelona
